Random Thoughts

Ok, here we go......in no particular order.

11.  Today in the restaurant bathroom a grandmother was cheering on her grandson for peeing in the potty.  I think we should all cheer each other on when we are in there.  I mean a little "atta girl" every once in a while, might not be a bad thing for the world.

d.  Is the no white after Labor Day rule still in effect?  I mean, I would seriously be the last person to know.  But it seems like there are no rules any more.  Am I right on this?  [Mom?!  Settle down, I am NOT wearing white while I'm typing this.  Sheesh.  Settle.  Down.]

3.  Here's a little insight as to what went through my mind while I was sitting across the table from someone who was droning on and on......see if you can keep up.
Yes, ummm hmmmm.  yep.  You know your hair would look better if you cut it a little tighter around your temples.  It wouldn't look so much like your  mom did it on the cheap.  Cheap.  That reminds me, I should run across the street to TJMaxx for the bows I need to buy for the gifts in my car.  Man, I hate gift wrapping.  Yep, yes.  Nod your head Holly.  Ohmygoodness, I have an ice cream headache.  Why did I drink that smoothie so fast?!  I need to tell Sarah we should make more smoothies.  While I'm at TJMaxx I want to look for a chair.  Well, two chairs really.  Two of the same chairs. Yes, I think that would look good in the front room.  But they need a small footprint because there's not a lot of room for them.  But they need to sit big.  I mean, no one wants to squeeze into a chair after a nice dinner.  That's miserable.  Oh Gosh!  Man, I'm sore.  Holy cow how I hate you burpees from yesterday.  Hate.  Yes, hate.  I wish I had a napkin.  I could wipe up this condensation off of my cup.  It's hot in here.  And I'm never hot.  Say that again.  [oh gosh, I missed his question!]

j.  Let's just say it....it's a BEAUTIFUL Fall.  Wowza the colors are amazing.

72nd.  So I finally caught up on Parenthood.  That STUPID, AWFUL SHOW!!!  Makes me cry every time I watch it.  It's SO good.  But I'm pretty sure you have to come from a family of, at minimum, three siblings.  The constant jabber and verbal sparring and overtalk drives Sweet Sarah crazy.  I, on the other hand, think it's spot on.  Anyway, stupid show makes me cry.

a.  Speaking of TV shows, I will admit it [though I feel like I've confessed this before on ye ol' blog] I still watch Grey's.  Yep.  I'm a sucker for it.  And if ER were still on, I'd probably be contributing to their Neilsen ratings too.

6.  Because.  SIX!

f.  Does anyone but me wonder whether the flavor of the month __________ health awareness thing will reach a breaking point?  I mean how many different colors of chartreuse, aubergine, bordeaux and mustard ribbons can Joann's produce?  Don't get me wrong, it's important to raise awareness AND money for good causes but why slam ALL of them into the month of October???

fifty-one.  I hope when I'm old and retired I have a morning coffee clutch group.  It's the ultimate sign of community really.

That is all.

Random Thoughts.

4.  I'm sitting in a car dealership and I'm fascinated by how people are entertaining themselves while waiting.  One woman....a COMPLETE art gallery setup.  Apparently she's planning on being here through July.

a.  Who watches these daytime shows?  I mean really.  Do you think tv hosts that have mid-day shows feel like they are the books in the alcove of Barnes and Noble on 82% discount?

b.  Someone needs to invent a "it's trying to be spring because the sun is bright but it's really only 36 degrees so these shoes will be perfect" shoe.  You guys, it's awful.  Flip flops are too cold.   Other shoes are too hot.  How do you solve this issue?  Socks with flip flops?  I'm close to that.

IXII.  So 40+ days ago we went vegetarian for Lent.  I haven't gone back and I don't miss the "other side".  Never thought I'd say that.  But MYGOODNESS it's really true that some restaurants haven't figured out how to create a menu for non-meat eaters.

2.  I'm still eating fish.  Does that count?  What does that make me?

g.  Rachael Ray just got a round of applause for taking corn off of the stove.  I think Sweet Sarah should start applauding me when I pull things off of the stove.  Yes, yes, that's a brilliant idea.  If you're at The Drayer when I'm cooking, pay attention and cheer/clap A LOT!

68.  I'm still at the car dealership and considering wondering around the showroom and slowly, lurkingly walking up to each car.  Opening each door on EVERY car and leaving them open.  Then slowly walking away.  How long until they notice?

iii.  oh!  A better idea.  Maybe I'll start wandering the lot and try and sell some cars.  Just walk up to customers as if I'm in the sales department.  "What brings you out today?  Excellent!  I can help you out with that.  Let me grab some keys."   Act like you know what you're doing people!  You can pull anything off.  Hang on, I'm being paged to the sales desk.

6.  Just  because it's THE number.

99.  I can't currently think of 2 songs with the number 99 in them.

Ok, that's enough from this wandering brain.  I've got to deliver a car and sign off on trade-in papers for the Wilsons.  Their super excited about the deal I got for them.  I probably should've checked with someone, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Random Thoughts

1.  Is anyone else predicting that their gas bill will be somewhere around the sum of the national debt post 2014 Polar Vortex 2.0?

c.  You know in the movies when one of the characters says to the other, "Let's just stay home and play hookie today."  How come I've never done that?  Doesn't a day when they're calling for -16 wind chill justify the perfect day for that?  Think I'll do it?

d.  I love candles.  Burning them in our house makes it cozy and smell good and seemingly warm, even though it's broad daylight.  I love them.  I have drawers and boxes of them.  Not kidding.  At all.  I have a candle drawer in an armoire, measuring 4 feet by 2 1/2 feet.  PLUS…..yes, plus, I have two boxes of candles in the basement.  Name the shape, color, variety, scent I have it.  Well for a short while anyway, until I burn through them.  Love them.

IV.  Roman numerals.  Why don't we count with them more often?  We should.  I mean how many of you will have to stop long enough to figure out exactly what Super Bowl it is anyway?

XIXVII.  And why does the NFL insist on roman numerals for their championship?  Clearly the sport doesn't hearken back to the Roman empire.  anyone?  Anyone?

M.  We played Monopoly last night.  It totally makes me giddy, like I'm all 11 years old again sitting around the kitchen table playing with my sisters and my dad.  And…..well, I'll just say.  I.  MUST.  WIN.  MUSTWIN.  MUST.  [I did by the way]

17.  I woke up this morning from a dream about working in my garden.  Hopeful much?

6.  Because the list must always include my favorite number.

S.  The poinsettia one of our dinner guests gave us before Christmas is alive and well, but shedding leaves like it's his job, to which The Drayer four legged occupants either bat around the house until all of the crumbled pieces are evenly scattered in every room or ingest and minutes later puke up, only to be found later by the two legged occupants outfitted with opposable thumbs, helpful when operating the SpotBot.

T.  SpotBot.  Don't have one?  You must purchase this thing.  Worth every red cent if you have pets or children or red wine spilling guests.

3.  I'm thinking I shall adopt a new winter look of wearing a stylish hat.  [I say this every year.  Hasn't happened yet.]

Stay warm my friends, I have hosta to tend to.

You just never know

We brought a carryon. It's filled with over flow items from luggage too heavy.

He brought...a drum?

A bucket?

A snake?

He's carrying it as if it weighs 75 lbs!!

Random Thoughts....I dare you to Keep Up

Ok, so here goes.....

b.  Does everyone love the challenge of saran wrap like I do?  I mean, seriously.  When I put that crap on a bowl you can BOUNCE a penny off of it!  How tight?  How tiiiigggghhhttttttt can I stretch it before it breaks and still holds???????  Love.  It.

c.  I love that I have been able to bring Sweet Sarah to the dark side with some of my absolutely ridiculous amazing idiosyncrasies.  Right now, for instance?  She's outside.  It's dusk.  And she is trimming and edging the grass.  The woman could work for St. Andrews!  It's beautiful.  And she's obsessed.  And that makes me happy.  Clean edges.  Sigh.

4.  I love Trader Joe's, but why, oh, why must their aisles be so friggin' narrow?  I don't care that you're wearing Birkenstocks and have on a Tallulah skirt and bought the first edition prius and you only buy eggs from the farmer down the street and you can say you're more granola than me GET THE H@#L OUT OF MY WAY!!!!!  For God's sake woman!  My two buck supply is low!!!!!  Seriously, Trader Joe's, why?

8.  I broke out a cookbook yesterday.  Why don't I do this more often?  Maybe that should be on my deliberatelifespann list.  Whaddya think?

iii.  I'm currently wearing a pair of mesh athletic shorts from my college days.  Yep.  They come down to me knees.  The elastic waistband is pretty much dry rotted and......well, I LOVE THEM!  BC SOFTBALL RULES!

xiiiiiiiixi.  What number is this?  Wait I don't think it is.  There are some rules I forgot to follow.

eleventy.  We've had a cleaning lady for two and half years.  Yet, when I finished this post I will be vacuuming the dining room because she is not doing a good enough job in the corners.  What's the best way to divorce a cleaning lady?

In conclusion, I plan on adding some pink flowers to the window boxes at The Drayer this week.  I'm thinking geraniums, which I used to completely detest since they smell like dog pee carpet.  But MAN do they ever look good in containers.  Damn you stinky pink geraniums!
